Master Your Goals and Plan “S.M.A.R.T.”

To reach success in business, you need to plan your journey and set the right goals. As a business owner, it’s crucial to create a roadmap to keep you on track to reaching your goal.

Start by Setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Specific: Think about the exact results what you want to achieve. For example, increasing your sales by 20% in the next six months or growing your customer base by reaching 1,000 new customers on your social media platforms.

Measurable: Goals should be quantifiable. In other words, You need to know how to measure if you are getting closer to your goal or not. Instead of a general “increase sales”, aim for a specific number. Make sure that you have ways to measure your progress and success.

Achievable: Goals should be something you can actually do, but still stretch you. For example, it’s not realistic to say you’ll get a million new customers in a week. Instead, focus on what you can accomplish with the resources and time available.

Relevant: Make sure that your goals match with the overall vision and purpose of your business. They should fit well with your mission and drive your business forward. If you want your business to be known for great customer service, then your goals should be pushing pushing in that direction.

Time-Bound: Set a deadline for your goals. A time limit helps keep you on track. For example, you can say you want to get a certain number of new customers by the end of the year.

Plan out how you want to reach your Goals

Setting a budget: You need to know how much money you can spend on your goal. Set aside a specific budget for the results you want to reach. Make sure to think about how all of the different parts of your budget will need to be spent of different services. If you can find free alternatives that will still give good results, that will free up more money for other things.

Making a calendar: Make a plan of what goals you want to reach at different time frames that all lead up to your 10 year plan. Write down your 10 year plan. What goals do you need at 5 years to be on track for your 10 year goals. Then what goals do you need to hit in 1 year to reach your 5 year goals. Keep planning this all of the way until you get 1 day. What do you need at 6 months to get to your 1 year goals, at 1 month to get to your 6 month goals, at 1 week to hit your monthly goals, and finally, what needs to be done today to get to finish weekly goals. For example, if your 1 year goal is to reach 10,000 followers, you can make a plan to post on social media every day by month 3, and two times a day by month 6.

KPIs: Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are metrics that you can use to measure the success of your plans so that you know if you are on track to reach your goal. Some common KPIs include website traffic, social media engagement, and conversion rates. Identify the KPIs that are most important to your business and track them regularly.

Actions and strategies:
You will also need to identify a way to hit your KPIs so that you reach your goals. Outline the specific actions that can be done that impact your KPI, and then what is your strategy to make sure you have enough actions to reach your goals. For example, if your goal is to sell 12,000 cups of coffee in 1 year, and your KPI is the “number of cups of coffee per month”, your action that effects that KPI is “selling a cup of coffee”, and your strategy is how you plan to sell 1,000 cups of coffee in 1 month.

Two key factors in hitting your KPI’s are going to be your how good your website is designed and the overall strength of your digital presence. Then the Lord answered me and said, write a vision, and make it plain upon a tablet so that a runner can read it.

There is still a vision for the appointed time; it testifies to the end; it does not deceive. If it delays, wait for it; for it is surely coming; it will not be late.

Remember, planning and setting goals are a process

As your business grows, so do your goals and plans. There may be issues that come up, or better ways to reach your final goal. The important thing is to have a map. Your plans on your map show you know where you are going, and goals show you what you want to find. Just make sure to stay flexible and be ready to adjust your plans if needed.

Let’s start building your map

What do you want to achieve for your business?

  1. Set at least three specific goals for your business that you can track. (Examples: Number of Sales, Followers, Conversions)
  2. Create a calendar for the next month.
  3. Identify three KPIs that you want to track.
  4. identify the action and strategy that will give you the results you need

Small actions can lead to big results. Keep moving forward and adjust your plans as needed.
